Do a lot of Adolescent users REALLY get their top contributor badges through friends' questions?
I'm not here a lot, but I do read some questions, and some questions, about popularity and top contribtuors, say that a lot of top contributors in this section wouldn't have their badges if it weren't for their friends' pointless questions. Is this true?
Yes, and it's not just this section. Point-gaming is a problem all over the site.
The Top Contributor badge is just a reflection of recent activity, anyway. It doesn't mean their answers are great, it only means that they answer a lot and have over a 10% Best Answer percentage. There was one TC a couple of years ago whose answers consisted solely of "you're stupid!" and "you suck!" and "Hi, ____!" Somehow enough of those answers were chosen as Best Answers to get her the badge.
But she didn't last long.
