Garand Rear
How do I use the site on the M1 Garand Rifle? ?
After I bought an M1 Garand Rifle, I noticed that the rear site on it is rather unusual. Instead of having the U shape rear site that most guns have, it has a ring shape. Do you know what I am talking about? Anyways how do I aim with that type of rear site? If possible feel free to link me to any sites with pictures or diagrams. Thank You.
How exactly do I align the rear site with the front site?
Do you align the tip of the front pin in the center of the hole or just the pin itself in the hole.
So you try to push back the rear site until you have the smallest hole possible on the aligned with the target?
Thank You very much.
Your M1 Garand uses a peep sight that has a knob on either side of the rear peep. One controls elevation and the other windage.
As you look through the rear aperture, you want to focus on the FRONT sight blade and your eye will automatically center it in the sight picture.
The link below shows proper sight alignment when using a battle peep sight.
