Why did President Johnson decide to use American military forces to defend South Vietnam?
Also... What were the political, social, and economic consequences of this decision?
No... we didn't have any actual combat troops in Vietnam until LBJ. Please don't post if you are ignorant on the subject. Yea, we were involved long before him, but not actually fighitng.
He didn't. Eisenhower sent the first troops, then Kennedy sent more.
