Corps Maneuvers

I have some basic questions about the Marine Corps...?

I've seen some pictures of Marines aboard ship and was wondering what their MOS is and how they get stationed there. They are usually pictures of them shooting at targets or practicing small scale maneuvers. Also, the Marines that practice the beach invasions, what is their MOS and, again, how does someone get selected for that sort of thing. Thanks for the help.

Well Marines don't ever get permanently stationed on ships. Generally they are with a MEU (marine expiratory unit) they go on a deployment, west coast goes on WESTPAC and east coast goes on on EASTPAC. If you want to be the guys you saw, they are most likely infantry. We call them 03's. It's the mos code for infantry. It all depends on what unit you get with in order to get on a deployment like that.
