Trekking/Backpacking - Compatible vest or other front utility pockets?

I am starting to get into backpacking and trekking more and more. One thing I can't seem to find is some sort of rig for front utility pockets, like a hunting or tactical vest, that doesn't obstruct my packs wasit/shoulder straps.

I have looked a bit online, and there are some very nice vests, bbut most have pockets/pouches exactly where my packs straps land, making it an impossible fit.

The best I can find are police/military MOLLE or STIRKE style with various detachable/movable pouches. I don't think this is going to be very comfortable. What I had in mind was more like a fishing style vest I think - comfortable and just leave the pockets below my pack straps empty??

Ideas?

I've never been able to find any sort of vest to wear under normal packstraps - best I've seen is to add several accessory pouches
I've decided I don't need them but a hiking partner uses at least two - one on front of each shoulder strap
I think he may have another one on a compression strap somewhere
You might want to look at a pack that is made with a lot of pockets
